Renegades Need Extras to Top Schooners
|
The Raleigh Renegades racked up a win at Raiders Ballpark, bumping off the Avon Lake Schooners, 4-3. Mat Latos, who started for Raleigh, pitched effectively for his team. Raleigh reliever R.J. Alvarez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mark Lowe was saddled with the loss. The Renegades have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 4th win in 13 games.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 14th inning, when Raleigh second baseman Dee Gordon, facing Michael Blazek, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Renegades the 4-3 win.
In postgame comments, Latos said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
