Erie beat Austin on the strength of starter Nolan Gannon's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Gannon picked up the win for Erie, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Erie now sits at 57-79, while Austin falls to 75-62.
Joc Pederson, who won the Most Valuable Player Award in 2018, aided the Erie cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 4 with a triple.
