It was a good time at Ballpark of Brooklyn, where fans came to watch the Nashua Pride and Austin Bats get after it.
Benefiting from Cam Shepherd's productive game, the Austin Bats downed the Nashua Pride, 8-2. Shepherd went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Bats. Gerrit Cole got the win, improving to 13-8. He held the Pride to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 3.
Tyler Collins, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, chipped in for Austin with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"I believe in our guys," said Austin skipper Eric Richards. "I like the energy they're playing with."
The first-place Bats now have a 6-game winning streak.
