Regina Reapers starter Robbie Ray was in fine form against the Mississippi Freedom at Ballpark of Columbus, leading his team to a 3-2 win. The winner was Lance McCullers Jr. in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Eduardo Rodriguez took the loss. Zach Britton notched his 35th save in 42 chances.
In the top of the 6th, designated hitter Brawlun Gomez gave Regina the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Reapers had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Mississippi pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez changed that -- and Regina went on to win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Regina manager Scott Boychuk .
The Reapers bumped their record to 79-69 with this latest triumph.
