The Erie Seawolves beat the Richmond Bullet Club, 6-1, at Jerry Uht Park. Erie left fielder Brett Gardner earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Keyvius Sampson, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 2-2. The save went to Eliel Ramirez, his 1st this season.
Gardner had a key at-bat for Erie early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Erie an early 2-0 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Gardner, "and today was a good one for us."
The Bullet Club drop to 10-11 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2020 season.
