Schooners Deal Seawolves 5-1 Setback
|
Daniel Norris never let Erie get something going. The Avon Lake left-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Schooners to a 5-1 win. The winning pitcher was Norris, now 3-5. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Kenley Jansen sewed up the save, his 9th.
Tied up with the Seawolves in the top of the fourth inning, the Schooners got a boost from left fielder Randal Grichuk. With a runner on 1st, Grichuk saw a 2-2 fastball from Keyvius Sampson and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Avon Lake on top, 3-1.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Grichuk.
Avon Lake's record now stands at 26-19, placing them second in the Eastern League North East Divison.
