Bats Come Up Short at Connecticut
|
The Choppers had to overcome a good performance from Austin pitcher Noah Syndergaard to claim a 3-2 win at Houston Grounds. Syndergaard went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Michael Shawaryn was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. The Choppers bumped their record to 58-46 with this latest triumph.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when second baseman Rougned Odor, who is rated as the 32nd best prospect by BNN, drew a walk. The Choppers went on to win.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Austin manager Eric Richards, "let me know."
