| Almost There: Mississippi On Cusp of Round 2 Triumph After 6-1 Win | The Mississippi Freedom moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Austin Bats at Ballpark of Columbus by a score of 6-1. Freedom right-hander Marcus Stroman was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. The win gives the Freedom a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
David Hamilton, who is rated as the 6th best prospect by BNN, aided the Mississippi cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hamilton told the Mississippi Observer.
The next game is scheduled for Friday, October 18th, 2019 at Ballpark of Columbus. The scheduled starters for the game are Gerrit Cole for Austin and Marcus Stroman for Mississippi.
