Late Rally by Schooners Secures Win
|
The Avon Lake Schooners picked up a win at Casterly Rock, knocking off the Connecticut Choppers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Steven Matz was an essential part of his team's success. The winner was Jervis Torrealba in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Josh D. Fields took the loss. The Schooners bumped their record to 61-45 with this latest triumph.
Jake Lamb was 1 for 3 with a walk for Avon Lake. The 29-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Josh D. Fields. It was his 32nd RBI of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Matz.
