| Schooners Jolt Bullet Club with Late Rally | In a tight game between the Avon Lake Schooners and the Richmond Bullet Club, pitcher Matt Barnes was terrific on the mound. The Avon Lake right-hander was named the player of the game in Avon Lake's 2-1 win. Avon Lake leads the Eastern League North East Divison by 5 games.
Had Jay Bell not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Bell hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Schooners.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Barnes.
