Playoff hopes of Bats player Matt Carpenter have been dealt a blow today after tests revealed the third baseman suffered torn ankle ligaments making a defensive play in today's game against Mississippi Freedom. Carpenter is expected to miss up to 6-7 weeks, effectively ruling him out of the playoffs.
This year Carpenter is batting .252 with 8 home runs and 24 RBIs. In 63 games he has scored 39 times. |

 | Fairview Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game

The Fairview MuckDogs and Avon Lake Schooners hooked up in a classic Round 1 that went right down to the wire.
In the end, it's Fairview heading off to the Round 2, after a 11-8 win at Casterly Rock tonight earned the 3-2 series win.
Outside Casterly Rock, whether they were supporters of Fairview or Avon Lake, many fans talked about how it was a series they would never forget.
Adonis Garcia played the hero for the MuckDogs in the series, as his MVP performance included a .474 batting average, with a .474 on-base percentage. He also had 2 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Fairview MuckDogs will play against the Florida Gators in the next round. Florida won their series against the Erie Seawolves 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
