| Bats Deal Seawolves 9-4 Setback | The skies opened up and the rain fell at Jerry Uht Park.
The Austin Bats topped the Erie Seawolves, 9-4, in Western League action at Jerry Uht Park. The player of the game was Austin pitcher and Santa Ana, California native Gerrit Cole. The winning pitcher was Cole, now 12-7. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8.
Justin Upton came through for Austin in the top of the second. With no one out, Upton victimized Stephen Strasburg with a 2-run home run. It was his 30th home run of the season and put Austin on top, 2-0.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Austin manager Trey Bats.
The Bats saw their win-loss record go to 79-73. At the same time, the Seawolves fell to 80-72.
