| Schooners Lose, 4-1, at Yankee Stadium | The Florida Gators picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the Avon Lake Schooners, 4-1. Starting pitcher Corey Kluber, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Kluber went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 9-6. Hector Rondon notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.
Ryan Braun helped out the Florida cause in the bottom of the second inning with a bases-clearing double. For the game, the left fielder was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Braun said.
Florida leads the Eastern League South East Divison by 9½ games.
