Victory Pushes Choppers Record to 74-66 | It was a fun time at Houston Grounds, where the Eugene Emeralds and Connecticut Choppers tangled.
Getting a good performance from first baseman Kole Calhoun, the Connecticut Choppers defeated the Eugene Emeralds, 10-5. Calhoun went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Choppers. Chris Sale picked up the win, improving his season record to 10-9. He struck out 5 in 7 innings.
With a runner on 1st and two out in the bottom of the third inning, second baseman Matt E. Duffy delivered big for the Choppers. Connecticut was trailing 4-2 when he belted a 2-run home run.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Calhoun told reporters after the game.
Connecticut goes to 74-66, Eugene to 53-87.
