| Freedom Stymie Las Vegas, Take 5-0 Win | Left-hander Oliver Perez mesmerized the Las Vegas Coyotes while leading the Mississippi Freedom to a 5-0 victory. The winning pitcher was Perez, now 2-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. The win brings the Freedom to 11-17, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
With the bases empty and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning, first baseman Brandon Belt delivered big for the Freedom. Mississippi was leading 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Las Vegas manager Greg H.
