| Gators Dump Emeralds, 5-2 | Florida rode a fine outing from starter Clayton Kershaw to victory over the Eugene Emeralds at Blue Wings Ballpark. The final score was 5-2. Kershaw, the winner, moves to 21-8. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 12 and giving up 3 walks. Pedro Baez recorded his 10th save for Florida.
Tied up with the Emeralds in the top of the fifth inning, the Gators got a boost from left fielder David Peralta. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Peralta saw a 1-1 fastball from Ian Kennedy and hit a 3-run home run to break the stalemate and put Florida on top, 4-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Peralta said.
The first-place Gators have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
