Machado Helps Erie Outscore Raleigh

Erie beat Raleigh at Raiders Ballpark, eking out a 11-10 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Manny Machado, who earned player of the game honors. Erie reliever Steve Geltz was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Kelvin Herrera took the loss for Raleigh. Carter Capps was credited with the save for Erie, his 3rd of the season.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out, Stephen Piscotty hit a 1-2 fastball from Kelvin Herrera for a solo home run. It put Erie in front, 11-10.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Machado told a Erie Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

Erie is now 8-10.
