Freedom Top Pride in Extras | The Mississippi Freedom outlasted Matt Kemp and the Nashua Pride, 8-6. Kemp was impressive in the loss. The Nashua right fielder was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Mississippi reliever Jose A. Ramirez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Andrew Miller absorbed the loss. Mississippi is now 38-39, while Nashua is 27-51.
The Freedom beat the Pride in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Josh Donaldson produced in the top of the 14th. Batting against Nashua pitcher Andrew Miller, Donaldson gave his team a 7-6 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"It feels good to get this one," Donaldson told the Mississippi Today. | | | | |
