| Bats Win at Las Vegas, 2-1 | The Bats faced a stiff challenge from Las Vegas pitcher Zack Wheeler, but persevered to claim a win at Bakers Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Wheeler went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. Austin reliever Felipe Rivero picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-3. Zack Wheeler was collared with the loss. Wade Davis was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 19 save opportunities.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Chris Squier was at the plate when Austin scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bats to go in front, 1-0.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Squier told the Austin Observer.
After today's action, Austin sits at 36-43, while Las Vegas falls to 45-34.
