| Indians Score Late, Top Coyotes, 3-2 | The Las Vegas Coyotes got a superb performance from pitcher Garrett Richards, but the Indianapolis Indians still won the game, 3-2. Richards was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Indianapolis reliever Jeurys Familia picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jonathan Papelbon shouldered the loss. Indianapolis leads the Western League North West Divison by 4½ games.
David Ortiz was the walk-off hero for Indianapolis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Indians designated hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"Both teams played hard," said Indianapolis manager Ryne Sandberg.
