The Austin Bats knocked off the Connecticut Choppers, 10-5, at Ballpark of Brooklyn. John Ryan Murphy, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Austin won. The catcher was 3 for 4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Their 27-25 record puts the Bats first in the Western League North West Divison.
It could have been a different outcome for Austin, had it not been for Addison Russell, the 25-year old shortstop . Russell contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Austin up, 7-5.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Russell said.
