| Indians Turn Back Austin, 4-2 | The Indianapolis Indians picked up a win at Victory Field, knocking off the Austin Bats, 4-2. Starting pitcher Wilking Rodriguez was an essential part of his team's success. Rodriguez went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 12. His record improves to 3-3. Jeurys Familia notched his 11th save in 13 chances.
Kevin Kiermaier, who is tied for 6th in the WL in triples with 3, aided the Indianapolis cause with a 2-run triple in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder was 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Indianapolis skipper Ryne Sandberg.
Indianapolis is now 30-31, Austin 33-29.
