| Choppers Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras | The Choppers had to overcome a fine performance from Avon Lake pitcher Matt Barnes to grab a 2-1 win at Houston Grounds. Barnes allowed no earned runs over 7 innings. Connecticut improves to 37-24 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
The Choppers beat the Schooners in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Corey D. Ray produced in the bottom of the 12th. Batting against Avon Lake pitcher Dylan Bundy, Ray gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring double.
Ray called the win "a collective effort."
