| Seawolves Defeat Schooners, 3-1 | Erie starter Stephen Strasburg put a stranglehold on the Avon Lake offense. The right-hander had complete command of his change up in leading the Seawolves to a 3-1 win. In 7.1 innings, Strasburg surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Carter Capps closed it out for his 18th save.
Joe Broom, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, aided the Erie cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
"Stephen was throwing free and easy," said Erie manager Terry Francona.
Erie currently is in third place in the Eastern League North East Divison at 41-35.
