| Schooners Turn Back Gators, 3-2 | The Avon Lake Schooners scored a 3-2 win versus the Florida Gators at Casterly Rock. Avon Lake pitcher Joe Ross nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Ross got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Ross allowed no earned runs. With the win, Avon Lake pushes its record to 4-4.
The Schooners got a big at-bat from designated hitter Randal Grichuk. For the game, Grichuk was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Avon Lake a 3-0 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Grichuk.
