| Bats Knock Off Pride, 8-1 | Pitcher Jim Malone was sensational for the Austin Bats in his team's 8-1 triumph over the Nashua Pride. Malone received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Felipe Rivero got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The Bats, at 48-40, lead by one game in their division.
With the bases empty and one out in the top of the second inning, first baseman Mark Trumbo delivered big for the Bats. Austin was leading 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Malone told the Austin Observer. "It's as simple as that."
