| Great Day for Machado -- 5 Hits | The Erie Seawolves stopped the Richmond Bullet Club by a score of 7-0 at Jerry Uht Park today, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Manny Machado. The 26-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Machado said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Machado did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Bullet Club.
"Not much that I can say," offered Richmond manager Scott Entsminger. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Manny Machado singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Zack Greinke in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
A look at his season totals shows Machado with 2 home runs, .326 BA, .370 OBP, 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored. |
