| Home Loss Shrinks Seawolves' Series Lead to 3-2 | The Florida Gators have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Erie Seawolves, winning 2-1 at Jerry Uht Park today. Gators left-hander Cole Hamels was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Gators to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Round 2.
The Gators beat the Seawolves in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Dae-ho Lee produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Erie pitcher Keyvius Sampson, Lee gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"The rain was definitely not preferable," Hamels said. "It worked out fine I guess, but we'll be happy if we see the sun next time."
Game 6 is set to be played on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at Yankee Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Patrick Corbin for Erie and Cole Hamels for Florida.
