| Indians Score Late, Stun Pride, 6-3 | Despite a fine performance by first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, the Nashua Pride suffered a 6-3 loss to the Indianapolis Indians. Goldschmidt was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win was Ken Giles's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Johnny Cueto took the loss for Nashua. Jared Hughes finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Had Joe Mauer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Mauer hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 6-3, in favor of the Indians.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Mauer. "Everyone's feeling pretty positive after that win."
Nashua's current losing streak is now 5 games.
