| Victory Pushes Seawolves Record to 52-48 | Blue Wings Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Eugene Emeralds and Erie Seawolves.
The Erie Seawolves got a good effort from starter Alex Cobb in defeating the Eugene Emeralds at Blue Wings Ballpark. The final score was 3-1. Cobb picked up the win for Erie, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 5-5. Carter Capps notched his 23rd save in 26 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Erie, had it not been for Tyler Naquin, the 27-year old center fielder . Naquin contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Erie up, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Erie skipper Terry Francona.
Eugene has now lost 5 straight.
