| Hamilton Blasts Moose, Freedom Take Game 1, 8-2 | The Mississippi Freedom started the Round 1 in style today, winning on the road against the Manitoba Moose at Great Outdoors Ballpark by a score of 8-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Freedom second baseman David Hamilton was named player of the game after he was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
Had Christian Vazquez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Vazquez hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Freedom.
"I like our moxie," said Freedom manager Justin Zima.
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 6th, 2019 at Great Outdoors Ballpark. Slated to start are Connor W. Jones for Mississippi and Jose Fernandez for Manitoba.
