| Choppers Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 2-0 | Despite a great performance by Erie starter Stephen Strasburg, the Connecticut Choppers defeated the Seawolves by the score of 6-5 at Houston Grounds today. Strasburg threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Choppers from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Connecticut now leads the Round 1 2-0.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when catcher Salvador Perez, who is rated as the 23rd best prospect by BNN, hit a single. The Choppers went on to win.
"Every team in baseball loses," Seawolves manager Terry Francona said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is set to be played on Monday, October 8th, 2018 at Jerry Uht Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Chris Archer for Connecticut and Andrew Heaney for Erie.
