Loss to Choppers Extends Eugene Losing Streak | The Eugene Emeralds went down to defeat to Francisco Liriano and his Connecticut teammates. The final score was 4-2 in favor of the Choppers. Liriano, the winner, moves to 7-8. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. The third-place Emeralds have dropped 7 straight games.
Abraham Almonte's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning was a big one for Connecticut. Coming to bat with no one out, runners on 1st and 3rd and Connecticut trailing 1-0, the center fielder hit a run-scoring double.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Liriano said.
