| Schooners Take Close Win Over Gators | The Schooners had to overcome a fine performance from Florida pitcher Jacob deGrom to grab a 6-3 win at Yankee Stadium. deGrom allowed 2 earned runs over 6 innings. Avon Lake reliever Tyler P. Wilson picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Shawn Tolleson shouldered the loss. Kenley Jansen converted his 28th save in 30 tries.
Prince Fielder made it 4-3 in favor of Avon Lake when he delivered a 2-run home run. It came with one out in the top of the eighth. The Schooners went on to win.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Fielder.
The Schooners raised their record to 65-40.
