| Victory Over Gators Takes Avon Lake to 66-40 | The Avon Lake Schooners reigned over the Florida Gators in damp conditions at Yankee Stadium.
Avon Lake Schooners starter Dallas Keuchel was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Florida Gators, 4-1. Avon Lake leads the Eastern League North East Divison by 9½ games.
The Schooners got a big at-bat from designated hitter Prince Fielder. For the game, Fielder went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 25th home run of the season gave Avon Lake a 1-0 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Keuchel. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
