Connecticut and Florida duked it out at Houston Grounds and the Choppers came out victorious.

Connecticut starter Jon Lester had a strong outing against the Florida Gators at Houston Grounds. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 2-0 win. Craig Kimbrel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 12 save opportunities.

It could have been a different outcome for Connecticut, had it not been for Corey Seager, the 23-year old shortstop . Seager contributed a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the first inning to put Connecticut up, 1-0.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Lester told the Connecticut News.

Connecticut, at 33-29, sits in third place in the Eastern League North East Divison.
