| Votto Hits 2 home runs in Gators Win | The Florida Gators got a rain-soaked win over the Connecticut Choppers at Houston Grounds.
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Joey Votto, the Florida Gators defeated the Connecticut Choppers, 6-1. Votto went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Gators. Cole Hamels, the winner, improved to 4-5. He held the Choppers to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3.
Votto had a big at-bat with a runner on 3rd in the top of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Gators went on to win.
"We had a nice day," said Florida skipper Steve Strzepek .
Florida is now 35-25, 4 games up in the Eastern League South East Divison.
