| Gators Stymie Fairview, Take 5-1 Win | The Florida Gators got a stellar effort from pitcher Jake Arrieta, helping Florida score a 5-1 win over the visiting Fairview MuckDogs. Arrieta went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 11. His record improves to 6-4. Earning his 1st save for Florida was Shawn Tolleson.
It could have been a different outcome for Florida, had it not been for David Wright, the 34-year old third baseman . Wright contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning to put Florida up, 3-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Gators manager Steve Strzepek , "I like our chances."
Florida improves to 37-25 with the win. They lead their division by 6 games.
