| Freedom Fall Short at Indianapolis | The Mississippi Freedom got a sterling performance from pitcher Connor W. Jones, but the Indians still prevailed, 3-2. Jones was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Indianapolis reliever Glen Perkins got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Carson Smith was tagged with the loss. Jeurys Familia notched his 24th save in 27 chances.
Indianapolis took control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Carlos Gonzalez hit a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Indians.
"It was a good effort all around," said Gonzalez.
The Indians' win now puts them at 55-58.
