Matz Holds Choppers Scoreless

Steven Matz of the Avon Lake Schooners humiliated the Connecticut Choppers at Casterly Rock today, spinning a complete game shutout and holding the visitors to 6 hits.

"He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said Connecticut manager Brandon Zima, after the game.

Matz whiffed 9 and walked 1 in the 5-0 win.

"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Matz said. "I was making good pitches the entire game."

This year Matz has gone 8-5 with an ERA of 2.49 and has 87 strikeouts in 119.1 innings.
