Smoak Claims EL Batter of the Month Award Saturday, August 1st, 2020 In the last year of his deal with Columbus, Justin Smoak has created some waves by winning July's Eastern League Batter of the Month title today. He put up a solid .345 batting average with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He also worked EL pitchers for 10 walks and a .439 on-base percentage. If he keeps churning out numbers like these, the 33-year-old is sure to draw some attention when contract time rolls around.
