Sample Shuts Out Detroit Friday, September 4th, 2020 Tyler Sample pitched a strong game at Atomics Ballpark today, blanking the Detroit Atomics 2-0. Sample allowed no runs on 5 hits, totaled 6 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks. Norfolk manager Ron Warner said he could tell immediately it was going to be a good game for Sample. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," Warner said. "He threw a lot of strikes." Crunching the numbers on Sample for the year, he has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 5-6 won-lost mark and 4.00 ERA.
